Your Raiders are back in action Wednesday, January 31st at 7:30PM vs. the Halliburton County Huskies! Here’s what you need to know.

This will mark the first and only matchup of the season for these two clubs. Last season, Georgetown won the only meeting of the season. Coming into this game, Haliburton posts a 24-17-3-0 record, good for 51 points and 7th place in the OJHL’s East Conference. In their last nine games, the Huskies have gone 6-3-0-0, with their most recent game being a 5-4 loss at Wellington. On the road this year, Haliburton is 10-12-0-0. Regarding special teams, the Huskies power play sits at just north of 23% on the road, while the  road penalty kill resides at just south of 70%.

Leading scorer for the Huskies this season is Patrick Saini with 32 goals, 42 assists, and 74 points this season. Keeping Saini under wraps and tied up defensively will be a key for the Raiders success Wednesday evening.

For your Raiders, 21-17-1-4 is where the club stands after 43 games, good for 47 points and a tie with Oakville for 5th in the West Conference. Georgetown is 4-5-0-0 in their last nine games and coming off a 3-3 tie vs. Leamington on January 27th. Home special teams number for the Raiders include an approx 48.5% effective power play, and a 75% success rate on the penalty kill. Taking advantage of their success on the power play at home should be a key to winning this game for Georgetown.

Leading scorer for the Raiders this season is Quinn Tavares, who posts 19 goals, 33 assists, and 52 points this year.

Facing up against a team that the club has played once in the last calendar year always poses an interesting task. Georgetown needs to stick to their game plan and play disciplined hockey in order to win. Scoring off the rush and in bunches is a hallmark of this club. As well, responsible defensive play will lead to success.

It is going to be a fantastic game Wednesday night at Alcott Arena! Doors open at 7PM with alcohol sales beginning at the same time. 7:30PM is puck drop. Tickets are $15.00 at the door. If you can’t make it, tune in to your Raiders on flohockey.tv!
