The Raiders managed a split of their two matches this past weekend. Here’s what you need to know.

Friday, November 24 the Raiders travelled to Milton for another instalment of the Battle of North Halton against bitter foe, the Milton Menace. The Raiders and Menace had met one time heading into this contest, with Milton securing a 3-0 victory. Both teams were riding 5 game winning streaks heading into Friday night. This was a highly contested matchup to say the least. The Raiders got out to a flying start, taking a 3-0 lead into the first intermission with 2 goals from Carson Lloyd, and 1 from Quinn Tavares. However, unfortunately the Menace took over in the second period, scoring 5 unanswered goals to lead 5-3 after 40 minutes. Carson Lloyd completed his hat trick early in the third period to cut the lead to 5-4, but the Menace answered with 2 more goals to finish the game at a 7-4 score. Things got chippy at the end of the game as both teams combined for 32 penalty minutes inside the last minute of play. An unfortunate result to lose to a bitter foe.

The Raiders looked to get back to business Saturday evening as they returned home to face the Brantford 99ers. The Raiders got off to another hot start, leading 3-1 after the first period thanks to 2 goals from Luca Rea, and 1 from Teddy Puccini. It was all GTown from there, with goals from Kristian Lamanna and Braeden O’Keefe in the second, and Carter Real and Aaron Andrade adding markers in the third for a 7-1 Raiders victory. Georgetown looked and played like they had something to prove after the unfortunate loss the night before, and did just that. Goaltender Finn Wilson stopped 30/31 in the victory for his 9th win of the season. For the Raiders, this win was huge to avenge the loss of points the night before. A statement win, if you will. Highlights can be found here!

After this weekend’s action, the Raiders now sit in a tie for 3rd place in the West with 35 points and a 16-8-0-3 record. The tie is with the Leamington Flyers, who own the same 35 points in 27 games played as Georgetown does. The Raiders have won 5 of their last 6 and look to continue the momentum into this week, where three more matches await. Stay tuned for the preview article tomorrow.
