The Georgetown Raiders managed to amass three of a possible four points in the opening weekend of OJHL action.
The Raiders began the weekend on Friday, Sept. 8 at the Gale Centre in Niagara Falls, welcoming the Niagara Falls Canucks to the league in the opposition’s first game as members. The contest saw a 3-0 Raiders victory with seven points coming from a line consisting of Kristian Lamanna, Luca Rea, and Aaron Andrade. Finn Marshall recorded his first shutout of the season, stopping all 16 shots from the Canucks. The Raiders peppered Canucks’ net minder Avery Alves with 37 shots. A strong performance to start the new campaign from all angles.
Saturday, Sept. 9 saw the Raiders back in action at Alcott Arena, for their 2023-24 home opener, taking on the Toronto Patriots. Gabriel Ciarallo put two past Patriots’ goaltender Aidan Thompson. Down 4-3 late in the third frame, Kaleb Nelson managed to tie the game and force the Raiders first overtime appearance of the young campaign. The Patriots ultimately prevailed in the first overtime period.
