BIG WEEK AHEAD FOR RAIDERS

The Raiders are back at it this week with a busy schedule of OJHL action.

Starting Sept. 26 at 10:30am, the Raiders will be facing off against the Burlington Cougars in their first match of OJHL Governor’s Showcase action. The Showcase is hosted by the Buffalo Jr. Sabres at the LECOM Harborcenter in Buffalo, NY. Each member club of the league will play two games as part of the Showcase, with results counting as regular season games in league standings. For the Raiders, this is the first opportunity to renew ties with the club that halted their postseason run this past March. Burlington sits at 2-1-0-3 with 7 points, and 5th in the Western Conference. The Raiders stand at 2-2-0-2 with 6 points, and 8th in the West. The Cougars head into this game having dropped four in a row, with three of those losses happening in double overtime. Burlington’s leading scorer is Joseph Nikac, with 6 points in as many games. The Raiders will be looking to right their own ship having lost three games in a row. The Raiders leading scorer is Kristian Lamanna, posting an impressive 9 points in 3 games.

Sept. 28 at 8:30pm sees Georgetown in their second Showcase game against the Oakville Blades. Another rival, the Raiders look to get off on the right foot with this early season matchup. Coming into the contest the Blades ride a high from a win against the Collingwood Blues in regulation. The Blades sit at 2-2-0-1 with 5 points, good for 9th in the Western Conference. Oakville’s top scorer is Eric Bonsteel, with 7 assists in 5 games. The Raiders will look to close out the Governor’s Showcase on a high note before heading into this weekend’s action.

The Raiders return home for the first time in 2 weeks this Saturday, Sept. 30th at 7:30PM for a battle with the Mississauga Chargers. Make sure you get to the Alcott early as tickets will be a hot commodity. The Chargers, a frequent preseason opponent of the Raiders, come into the contest at 1-5-0-0 with 2 points, sitting last in the West. The Chargers leading scorer is Jason Daraiche, with 5 assists in 6 games played.

We want to see the Raider Faithful pack the Alcott this Saturday night. Tickets are $15.00 at the door.

Rounding out the week is a Sunday, Oct. 1 matchup in Buffalo, NY, with the Jr. Sabres at 7:00PM. The Raiders lost a hard fought battle with Buffalo on Saturday, Sept. 16, losing 2-1 in regulation. Jack Guvenal was the lone Raiders goal scorer. The first matchup saw a tight checking, close contest; look for the same this Sunday night. Buffalo’s leading scorer is Brody Seitz, with 6 points in 6 games. The Raiders look to even the season series and finish this week’s action in stride.
