What a weekend it was for your Georgetown Raiders.

Friday, Nov. 10, the Raiders traveled to Central Arena in Burlington for a clash with the Cougars. Bitter rivals, this was a highly contested match coming into Friday as the Raiders had taken the first two matchups this season. Quinn Tavares gave the Raiders the lead early in the first period, before Ryan Gagner tied it up later in the frame. 1-1 is where this contest would stay until the second overtime period. Both teams had many chances throughout the game on the powerplay. However, it was Teddy Puccini that broke the deadlock with 21 seconds left in the game to give the Raiders a massive 2-1 double OT victory. The goal was Puccini’s 3rd tally of the season in just his 5th game for the Raiders. Goaltender Finn Marshall stood on his head during this one, stopping 48/49 shots for the victory. That’s a .979 SV% for those keeping track. This win was monstrous for the Raiders, who are now 3-0-0-0 against Burlington this year.

Saturday, Nov. 11, the Raiders returned home for a battle with the Niagara Falls Canucks. The Raiders looked to continue to build momentum from the previous night’s dramatic overtime win. This was certainly the case, as the Raiders took the victory, 7-4. After goals from Brandon Kakei, Niko Krmpotic, and Kaleb Nelson gave the Raiders a 3-0 lead into the first intermission, it was Kaleb Nelson (again!), Quinn Tavares, Luca Rea, and Aaron Andrade that rounded out the 7 goals in the contest for your Raiders. Finn Wilson stopped 37/41 shots in the victory for the Raiders. An impressive two games for Georgetown to say the least!

After this weekend’s action, Georgetown now sits at 14-7-0-3, good for 31 points and 3rd place in the western conference; only 1 point behind the arch rival Milton Menace for second place.

This week’s action is just one contest for Georgetown; a Saturday afternoon matchup against Caledon at home at 1:30PM. Tickets are $15.00 at the door. Doors open at 1:00PM for alcohol sales, with puck drop at 1:30PM! Don’t miss the action!
