WEEKEND SPILT FOR RAIDERS

The Georgetown Raiders managed to spilt two games over the weekend against the Buffalo Jr. Sabres and St. Michael’s Buzzers, respectively.

On Saturday night at home, the Raiders lost a close contest to Buffalo 2-1 in regulation. Jack Guvenal scored the lone Raiders goal. It was assisted by Luca Rea and Quinn Tavares; a power play tally. The match was a chippy affair, with the two squads accounting for 49 total penalty minutes in the first period. Raiders goaltender Finn Wilson managed an impressive .939 save percentage in the loss, stopping 31/33 shots from the Sabres.

Sunday afternoon saw the Raiders travel to St. Michael’s College Arena for a clash with the Buzzers. After a scoreless first, the Raiders exploded for three goals in 8 minutes in the second period, and didn’t look back. Scoring for the Raiders was Brandon Kakei, Luca Rea, Quinn Tavares (2), Luke Tuin, and Kristian Lamanna. Finn Marshall stopped 30/33 shots in the winning effort.

After this weekend’s action, the Raiders now sit at 2-1-0-1 on the season, good for 3rd in the Western Conference with 5 points.

Georgetown heads into the third week of regular season action with two road games. Thursday, Sept. 21, the Raiders will be in Brantford at the Wayne Gretzky Sports Complex to take on the 99ers at 7:30PM. The following night, Friday, Sept. 22, the Raiders will take on the Aurora Tigers at 7:30PM at the Aurora Community Centre.
