The Georgetown Raiders had a tough weekend, dropping both games on their slate.

Friday, December 8th, the Raiders travelled to Central Arena for a clash with the Burlington Cougars. This game didn’t get off on right foot at the Cougars lead 4-1 after the first period. The lone Raider goal was scored by Kaleb Nelson in the first. The Raiders managed to battle back to get the score to 5-4 early in the third period, with goals from Quinn Tavares, Kaleb Nelson (x2), and Noah Cochrane. The Raiders made a great push and had lots of chances in the third period. However, the Cougars would score an empty net goal to win the game 6-4. For Georgetown, the Cougars early attack made it a steep uphill climb to get back in the game. Looking at a positive, the Raiders did score 4 goals to mount a great comeback, albeit a bit short on the outcome.

Saturday, December 9th, the Raiders returned home to face the Lindsay Muskies for our annual Teddy Bear Toss game. The Muskies opened the scoring in the first before Luca Rea tied things up and sent the Bears flying to the ice! Heading into the 2nd frame at 1-1, unfortunately Lindsay was able to score 3 unanswered goals in under 2 minutes to take a 4-1 lead to the 3rd period. The Raiders challenge some backpack energy from the night previous, as Brandon Kakei and Jack Guvenal recorded tallies to make it 4-3. The comeback would fall just short and Lindsay took this one, 4-3. Taking a positive, the Raiders did show a lot of fight in the 3rd period, scoring 2 goals to make it a close game.

After this weekend’s action, the Raiders still sit in 4th place in the West at 38 points and a 17-12-0-4 record. Only one game is on the horizon for Georgetown this week; a Saturday battle at home vs. the Oakville Blades. Stay tuned for the preview. Thank you for your support, Raider Nation!
