Saturday night the Raiders returned to their winning ways with a solid 4-2 victory over the Oakville Blades. Here’s what you need to know.
There was no scoring in the first period. In the second, the Blades jumped out to an 2-0 lead. However, the Raiders were able to dig deep and manage a big comeback to tie the game at 2. Gabe Ciarallo was responsible for both goals in the period, and the score was 2-2 heading to the third.
Carter Real gave the Raiders the lead at 3-2 with about 7 minutes gone in the frame. From there, the Raiders played a responsible period, managing the Blades’ attack and creating many chances of their own. It was a particularly impressive period as GTown maintained a 1 goal lead until the 19:59 mark, where Luca Rea scored an empty net goal and the final score was had, 4-2.
For Georgetown, this was a massive win for points and momentum. Snapping a small losing streak at home (last game at home for 2023) is huge for confidence heading into next weekend’s 2 games before the Holiday break. Coming back from being down 2-0 was huge, as well. The Raiders showed they have a lot of fight and the ability to take control of game, which is massive. For the standings, the Raiders now sit in a tie with Buffalo for 4th in the West with 40 points. With 2 more matches this coming week, the Raiders have an opportunity to vault into a solo spot at 4th in the West. However, GTown needs to focus on one game at a time and keeping the pedal to the floor heading into next weekend.
With no more home games for 2023, make sure you tune into this Friday and Saturday’s action on flohockey.tv to support your Raiders! Thank you, Raider Nation!
