The Georgetown Raiders dropped both contests this past weekend, losing 5-4 in overtime to the Brantford 99ers last Thursday evening at the Wayne Gretzky Sportsplex, and 4-2 to the Aurora Tigers at the Aurora Community Centre on Friday night.
Thursday night’s match saw a closely contested bout as the Raiders lead 3-2 after the second period, before being tied 4-4 heading into overtime. Quinn Tavares had two goals and an assist in the loss. Goaltender Finn Wilson made 29 saves on 34 99ers shots; meanwhile, the Raiders peppered 99ers net minder Aidan Berry with 48 shots in the game, Berry stopping 44.
Friday’s game in Aurora saw Cayden Kowal score his first OJHL goal in the third period. Congrats, Cayden! Kristian Lamanna potted his 4th goal of the season. Finn Marshall stopped 20/24 Tigers shots. The Raiders went 1/6 on power play opportunities.
After this weekend’s action, the Raiders sit at 2-2-0-2 in the Western Conference, good for a tie for 6th place with 6 points. This week coming sees the Raiders in four contests, starting with a trip to Buffalo for the annual Governor’s Showcase. Stay tuned for the weekly preview article.
